As part of Think!Chinatown’s ongoing urban planning exhibition, Making or Faking Chinatown? Representing People, Place and Culture, we’re hosting a walk-in community day gallery hours for folks to see the exhibition before participate in various exhibit-related activities about cultural representation in Chinatown’s built environment. Come sip on some freshly brewed tea and learn more about cultural placemaking and placekeeping!
Our current exhibition and the conversations around it are unfunded and produced out of love for our community. From this community day series, Think!Chinatown will synthesize what we have heard and create a public report which we will make available to the NYC Economic Development Corporation, which is leading the Chinatown Connections project. While Think!Chinatown will be a community partner to Marvel Architects, the architectural design consultant for Chinatown Connections (we are not currently under contract), we will not be conducting community engagement as part of that process.
